Participants

Currently Dr. Brewster is working on two research studies centered on persons living with cognitive impairment and their caregivers, the RePair and REVIVE research studies. Sleep disturbances are prevalent and distressing in both persons living with memory loss and their caregivers. It increases the risks for many psychological and cognitive health issues for both persons. The goals of our studies are to help improve sleep quality; therefore, allowing for better health outcomes for both caregivers and persons living cognitive impairment.

RePair

The aim of the RePair Sleep Study is to find out whether cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia can improve sleep for both persons living with cognitive impairment and their caregivers. This intervention involves structured discussions about sleep habits, and adjustments of sleep habits. The intervention consists of seven visits in total: a baseline visit, 1-hour behavioral intervention sessions for 4 weeks, and 2 visits after the interventions ends (immediately and 3 months). All visits will take place via online videoconferencing.

REVIVE

The focus of the REVIVE Research Study is to examine your experience of current sleep problems, what you believe contribute to your sleep disturbance, and how you are managing sleep disturbances to guide the development of a paired sleep intervention. For this study you will be asked to participate in an interview that will take place via videoconferencing.

We were extremely happy to be selected for the Sleep Intervention Program with Dr. Glenna Brewster. We found the information in the study both eye-opening and supportive.  There were numerous strategies to help my husband with insomnia, and many to help me sleep better while helping my husband rest more easily.

During our time with Dr. Brewster. we felt that she cared about us individually and as a couple.  She was able to give us a lot of hope with our sleep issues. She knew how to keep us on track and make sure we were following the strategies outlined for us.

Rinwa Offutt was a great contact for us and helped us make sure we had all our documentation and kept the scheduling current.  All in all, being in this program was a greatly beneficial experience for us.
